This is me! I don’t know how old I am. This is the picture that came with my adoption file. According to my file, I could be less than a year (see picture below). This is the picture that my parents got when they applied and were granted a child. What is interesting is that I was told by my adoptive mother that I was not the child they were supposed to get as that is not the first picture they were given. Whether or not that is true, this is the picture that came in my file and I am the one they received. I came over at about 2 years of age in 1974. But a Korean fun fact is that a person is older than they are in the U.S. age.
I was told that my Korean name was given to me by the orphanage and I don’t know what it means. I would love to know the meaning. I do know that my American name - Darcy means “dark one”. My adoptive parents name me this because I was darker than they were, in other words, I am not Caucasian. Here is what I do know about myself when I came over:
My wish is and has always been to meet my biological mom and ask her a lot of questions and/or meet someone who knew me in the orphanage that could answer questions about me when I was there. But nevertheless, I am who I am supposed to be. God created me!
Darcey,
So glad you are making plans to visit S. Korea and Eastern Child Welfare Society, which took the place of David Livingstone. You are certainly not the "dark one" in spirit as you are so full of light and hope and confidence about your calling and your place in God's Kingdom. You are loved by many and especially by Jerry and Deniese Dillon!
