This theme was my Sabbatical Theme in 2016. I was serving in a congregation in Arizona and it was my time to have a sabbatical and I was ready for one. I knew I wanted to rest and learn. I was at a point where I was really discerning where God was calling me. Who was I, and was I still called to ministry? Lots of thoughts going on but when an opportunity arose for me to go to South Korea, I decided to pick this theme. I knew that identity has a lot to do with who I am and where God was calling me. I knew that I came from South Korea near Seoul and ministry has a lot to do with my soul. So I invited people to join me on this journey. I chose the Bible passage from Mark which is one of God’s first commandments. I thought since I was going to Seoul, South Korea, I could read, study, pray, and reflect on the many areas of Seoul and my soul.
I have decided to keep this theme flowing for the fact, that I continue to engage in my adoption narrative and am learning more about my adoption, culture, etc. as well as deepening my relationship with God. I do plan to travel to South Korea again soon and God is always with me. I am constantly studying scripture, praying, and noticing how God shows up in my life. Hence, the theme is still relevant.
So thank you for journeying with me from Seoul to my soul!
