What Is An Adoptee

Interestingly, the word adoptee defined by Merriam Websters Dictionary is “one who is adopted”. So I looked up the word adopted and the definition is “to take (someone or something) by choice into a relationship.” To me, an adoptee is a person who is legally adopted into a family due to the birth family not being able to care for the adoptee. I am an adoptee! The term adoptee is part of my identity.

There are conferences and webinars for Adoptees and I was interviewed to help advertise for this year’s KAAN Conference. I attended it digitally in 2021 and hope to go in person another time.
