I am back to blogging now that work has settled somewhat. Synod Assembly is over and I can begin to think vacation!
I am in the midst of packing and making sure I have everything I need but not too much! I am excited but nervous. This trip is a little different than the other two trips I took to Korea. The previous trips were “Homeland Tours” with my Adoption Agency but this trip is with a few people (a couple of adoptees from the same orphanage that I was in). We are going to do some “Seoul-searching” some searching of roots. From DNA tests, to visiting the site of the orphanage to visiting government offices and Korean adoption agencies, we hope to find something. We know we may not find anything but we will be grateful for attempting to try.
Identity and Belonging have always been a hard thing for me and still is. Since the pandemic, I have felt closer to my Korean heritage than ever before. My hunger to know more about my culture, and understand adoptees has been growing ever since I went to Korea the last time in 2016.
To follow me during my trip (as I may not blog much as I am NOT taking my computer), you can find me on Facebook or Instagram. So stay tuned…
Thanks for following me and my journey!
Darcy, remembering being with you (and our truly amazing group) in 2016 and now thinking of this great opportunity for you to return makes me so happy for you. I hope for you to have an amazing and fruitful trip.
Darcy- over the last 6 years you have earned a lifetime of vacations! I wish you safe travels, answers in whatever form they take, and a continuing love of God and God’s plan for your life. Perhaps our ministries will cross again some day.
