My Birth City

Uijeongbu, South Korea

My adoption paperwork lists Uijeongbu, South Korea as the place I was found near my birth. So was I born there? Or somewhere else? The story I am telling myself is that I was born there. When I first found out, I didn’t know how to pronounce it and as I grew older, I became aware of this village in the TV series MASH. Here is a glimpse into the city now.

I was able to stop in Uijeongbu in 2001. It was surreal to think I was “born” there. I wonder where. What was life like back in the early 70s there? So many questions.
