My journey began on May 18th meeting up with my friend, Abby (I met around 2008 or so in the AZ Korean Adoptee Group). We stayed in a hotel near Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport so that we could catch the early Delta Flight out to LA where we met up with Danny & Susie Lawlor (Susie and I were in the same orphanage). Along the way we met a Vietnamese woman who was traveling from Phoenix to Vietnam with a layover in Seoul. So we invited her to hang out with us in the LAX Airport.
We boarded the double decker Korean Air plane which took 12 1/2 hours over to Seoul landing in Incheon Airport. On the plane we had food options of Korean or American. I dozed but never really slept. The flight wasn’t too bad. Once we landed, we had to complete an arrival card and get our Passport stamped (actually received a sticker not a stamp). Then we exchanged our American dollars for Korean currency which is called Won. Next we took a van (1 hour or so) into Seoul to Somerset Palace Hotel where we stayed while in Seoul.
I was super excited to be in Korea and looking forward to all the things we were going to experience. We met up with Morten and Marit Trysness Aamold from Norway. Marit was also in the same orphanage as Susie and I). Then off to bed for a good night’s rest.
