An Adoptive Father's Day Card

It’s amazing what is coming out on cards nowadays. I found this card specifically for an adoptive father. What is interesting is the words “I’m so grateful” As adoptees we do not like that phrase as many times adoptive parents have used the words “You should be grateful that we adopted you”. While we should, we really don’t need to be reminded.

So I wish my adoptive father would have been more engaging with me. I often wonder what that would have felt like. I do think he did the best he could. But what is interesting is that I don’t think of my biological father much. I really don’t know why. Something for me to reflect on.
