A Korean-English Bible was given to me as a gift from some dear friends in Arizona right before I left for my Sabbatical in 2016 as I was heading to Korea for the second time in my lifetime. This was a very special gift as I took it with me, to every place I went during my Sabbatical, and had people write messages to me in it.
Jeremiah 29:11 is one of my favorite Bible verses as it speaks volumes to me as an adoptee. I believe the Lord has plans for me, plans for me to prosper and not harm me as well as giving me hope and a future. God has definitely been with me throughout my whole life from the beginning (birth) and throughout my toughest struggles (childhood to young adulthood) and even through today. God promises to be with us no matter what our circumstances are.
I don’t know what God’s plans are for me for the future but I do know that God promises to be with me constantly. God had a plan for me from the beginning even though I was abandoned by my birthmother, God never abandoned me. Even when I struggled with depression, identity, self-esteem, and a whole plethora of issues, God gave me hope. And each day when I rise, God is giving me a future.
Gracious God, thank you for being with us, for loving us, and for guiding us in our everyday living. May we continue to live in hope, trusting you always through your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
