What are the traditional dances of South Korea?
Korean people have inherited a great variety of folk dances such as salpurichum (spiritual purification dance), gutchum (shamanic ritual dance), taepyeongmu (dance of peace), hallyangchum (idler's dance), buchaechum (fan dance), geommu (sword dance), and seungmu (monk's dance).
Enjoy watching these dances.
Thank you! The fans and the drums were beautiful.
These dances/music/costumes/ are absolutely amazing. I especially liked the fan dance which reminded me a bit of the flag motions used in marching bands these days. The Shamin reminded me of the Deacons’ stoles on the seasons of red in the church year. And the last dance with the magnificent drumming, gorgeous costumes, and rhythm was spectacular! Man, the dancers were SO agile! …and all while keeping up the beat! Thanks so much for sharing.
