So as you know from my early blog posts, I was born in January of 1972 but didn’t come over to the United States until January 25, 1974. These pictures are in chronological order by month in the year 1974. So you can see how I have grown.
While I do not remember anything from that year and don’t even remember being told about that year, I am saddened to see these pictures and know nothing about me. Again, my adoptive parents were not forthright in information nor willing to share pictures. So I am very grateful for my cousin retrieving these after my grandmother’s funeral and sending them to me.
As I look at these pictures now, I wonder, was I happy, what was I like at that age? I don’t think I look 2 years old. And I don’t even think I am that cute, I am plump, chubby and even look like a boy in some of these pictures. But I am glad I have these pictures as this is my identity at that age. It is something tangible from that year since I don’t have memories or stories. Oh, the other tangible thing I do have is my Baptismal Certificate stating I was baptized in the Methodist church on March 19, 1974, in Pierce, Nebraska.
If I ever meet any of my biological relatives, I will show them these pictures to see if there is some resemblance in any of my features. My hope and prayer is that I will be reunited with someone from my biological family in this lifetime.
I am praying, with all of my heart, that you find everything you are looking for! You deserve this. I know it meant the world to Chandie (and she stays in touch with them through an app). It also meant the world to me. Love you!!!
I think you were very cute. And yes, you were probably small for your age. My daughter was born in 1973 and I dressed her in shirts like you had on and since she had little hair, she looked like a boy. It was just the way we dressed kids casually. BUT, I am VERY SAD that you have no biological family to compare appearance and check in with. I"m thankful you have these pictures and I continue to be sad for you having to walk this path.
